What it is
My VoiceLink is VoiceLink's own web page for managing your account and, if you run the server, the server itself. Every VoiceLink server has it. You don't need WordPress, Composr, Drupal or a Client Portal; those can still be connected, but they are optional.
Open it from the VoiceLink web app with the "My VoiceLink" link near the top of the main screen, or go straight to /client/portal/ on your server, for example voicelinkapp.app/client/portal/.
The tabs
- Account
- Sign in, see your account details, notifications, files you shared and your email choices.
- Security
- Two-factor sign-in status, devices signed in with your account, "Sign out all other devices", change your password, and your sign-in methods (email and password, Mastodon, blind.software, Client Portal). Shown when you are signed in.
- Connected apps
- App tokens: give one app or device access to your account with only the permissions you choose, and revoke it later. Shown when you are signed in.
- Rooms
- The rooms on this server, with a search field. Join opens the room in the web app. When signed in you can also invite people to a room.
- Downloads
- The VoiceLink apps for your devices (your device's platform is listed first) and a form that emails you the download links.
- Admin
- Only for server owners, admins and staff, and only the sections your role allows: Server, Rooms, Users, Agents, Analytics, Invites, File sharing, Support, Mastodon, Federation, Modules and (server owners only) Community directory. The server checks every change again.
Using it with the keyboard and a screen reader
- The tabs are a standard tab list. Press Tab to reach it, then Left and Right arrow (or Up and Down) to move between tabs; the tab opens as you move. Home goes to the first tab and End to the last.
- Press Tab again to go from the tab list into the open tab's content. Each tab starts with a level 2 heading, so heading navigation (H in NVDA browse mode, VO+Command+H with VoiceOver) works too.
- Admin has its own tab list, "Admin sections", that works the same way. Each section starts with a level 3 heading.
- Results such as "Password changed" or "Sign in to see Security" are read out once through one status message under the tabs, and stay on screen.
- Pop-up dialogs (Notifications, Invite people, removing a sign-in method) put focus inside the dialog. Escape closes them and puts you back on the button you used.
- Opening an invite link in My VoiceLink (
/client/portal/?invite=...), or choosing Review invite in Account, Notifications, shows the join confirmation screen first. Continue opens the web app on that invite; Not now or Escape stays here. See Joining with an invite. - Every tab has its own address, for example
/client/portal/#securityor/client/portal/#admin-users, so you can bookmark or share it. The browser's Back and Forward buttons move between the tabs you opened; moving through several tabs with the arrow keys counts as one step.
Community directory (server owners)
Any VoiceLink server can ask to be listed on this server's community site, with an auto-generated page built from that server's own signed details (name, owner, location, rooms, trust) that stays in sync on its own. New requests wait in Admin > Community directory as "pending"; approve or decline each one, or leave it and it approves itself after the wait your Settings there allow (24 hours by default). Domains are never shown to people using the app; this admin section is the only place this server's owner sees another server's address, so they can judge whether to trust it.
What moved here
- The old pop-up admin panel in the web app. "Open Admin" in the app, and
/admin, now open the Admin tab. - Settings, Security in the web app: sign-in methods and app tokens are now on the Security and Connected apps tabs. Old links to
#app-tokensopen Connected apps.
Audio, push-to-talk, welcome chime, privacy and update-report settings stay in the web app's Settings, because they belong to the device you are using.
If something doesn't work
- "Sign in to see ..." means that tab needs you to be signed in; use the Account tab.
- "You don't have access to Admin" means your account isn't an owner, admin or staff member on this server.
- Client Account, Mastodon and blind.software sign-in are started from the web app's sign-in options; come back to My VoiceLink afterwards and you stay signed in.
